Bush about Cuba...
Bush attacks Cuba and other Latin America rivals
Speaking at a 34-nation summit of leaders across the Americas, Bush singled out Cuban President Fidel Castro for his toughest condemnation.
"Through our democratic example, we must continue to stand with the brave people of Cuba, who for nearly half a century have endured the tyrannies and repression (of others than us)," Bush said at the summit's inaugural ceremony. I suppose he only refers to Castro? Not to US-friendly dictator Batista (who was controlling Cuban politics since the 1930's)
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has resisted opposition demands for a referendum on his rule, and Haiti's President Jean-Bertrand Aristide's government has been rocked by violent protests and allegations of government repression. Aristide is supported by the poor people (so he must be a dangerous communist for the USA), dictators Papa Doc and Baby Doc Duvalier were supported by the USA...
If the USA cares about democracy... Why did (and does) it support so many dictators (the cruelest first)? Why does it support armed (terrorist) groups fighting against democratically elected governments? Why did it try to change the results of many elections in many countries (including their own now ;))? Why doesn't it accept resolutions of the UN when they are accepted by all but 2 countries? Why use vetoes? ...

More hipocrisy...
Bush about Saddam:
"He is a torturer, a murderer, and they had (US funded) rape rooms, and this is a disgusting tyrant (he always was, but since a few years he's not our friend anymore) who deserves justice, the ultimate justice. But that will be decided not by the president of the United States, but by the citizens of Iraq in one form or another."

Saddam
Good news, Saddam has been caught.
Funny how Bush and Bremer "forgot" something when they talked about his crimes...
And now the former dictator of Iraq will face the justice he (with our support) denied to millions.
The capture of this man was crucial to the rise of a free Iraq. It marks the end of the road for him, and for all who bullied and killed in his name (and with our support). For the Baathist holdouts largely responsible for the current violence, there will be no return to the (US sponsored) corrupt power and privilege they once held. For the vast majority of Iraqi citizens who wish to live as free men and women, this event brings further assurance that the (US sponsored) torture chambers and the (US sponsored) secret police are gone forever.
